Discover our private guest suite located in the residential neighborhood called Barred Owl Creek in Carrboro. We are 2 miles to downtown Carrboro, which is about a 45 minute walk, 5 minutes by car. You can use uber/lyft if you don’t have a vehicle. This cozy two-bedroom suite, located on the first floor of our addition, features its own private driveway. Our home is situated in a quiet, safe, and walkable neighborhood, close to MLK Park. We’re just 2 miles from downtown Carrboro and conveniently near UNC, CH, and the hospital.
The space
We designed our “Seomra Suite” (Irish for guest room) as a cozy 20′ x 35′ space for visiting family and friends. The kitchenette is fully equipped with all essentials: sink, dishes, utensils, baking dishes, pots and pans, coffee maker, microwave, dishwasher, range/oven, toaster, and washer/dryer. The suite is separated from the main house by a locked door, ensuring privacy and security. It feels like a private 700 sq. ft. apartment with its own driveway and entrance.
The bedrooms are identical, each measuring 10′ x 11′ with ample closet space. Both bedrooms have a standard Queen bed with standard matresses for a comfortable night sleep. Between the bedrooms, you’ll find a desk nook and a bathroom. Please note that there are 10 steps up to the entrance.
Guest access
When you arrive you’ll park on the left side of the house in your own private driveway in front of the 2 story addition. The entrance is through the left side of the house and it’s well lit (sensor flood lights and exterior LED sconces) along a concrete path to the back of the addition. There are about 10 steps with handrails leading up to the balcony entrance in back.
We have a smartkey (smartphone) enabled lock system called KEVO that is available to our guests upon request.
Guests will have complete access to the 700sf guest suite. It is separated by a shared wall with a locked door to the main house.
House Rules
For consistency we follow the same rules posted in our airbnb listing.
- No smoking, vaping or drugs.
- No Pets allowed.
- Well seasoned travelers over the age of 25 preferred.
- No large groups of unrelated adults for college events.
- Quiet time after 10pm until 7am: no loud tv/electronics and loud conversations please.
- Our guest suite is well insulated but not sound proof and we do have a shared wall between the house and the guest quarters.
- Please do not run any appliances after 10pm and before 7:30am.
- Only registered guests are allowed in the suite without written permission.
- If a guest brings more people than were registered, the reservation will be cancelled with no refund. • All children are considered guests and must be included in the occupancy count.
- Let your host know if anything can be done to make your stay more comfortable and enjoyable.
- To prevent damage to bedding and towels, please do not do laundry that belongs to the suite. We will gladly provide replacement bedding and towels upon request. • If you break or damage something, please let us know and arrange for its replacement or repair. Please, no outdoor (heeled) shoes beyond entry door area to the suite, especially late at night on the hardwood floors. • Please leave the suite tidy with the dishes clean or in the dishwasher but do not leave it on if you are not there. It should be left the way you found it.
- Guests are expected to keep the suite reasonably clean during their visit (kitchen and garbage area). No weapons or guns allowed on our property.
Other things to note
We have a friendly dog – Max is a German Shepherd and he is not allowed in the space or side yard which is separated in the back via a 6′ privacy fence.
There are security cameras outside of the property.
Also there is a staircase up to the 1st floor space because of the sloped grading of the land. Everything in our guest suite is on the first floor. (The 2nd floor is not included and that is connected to our main house).
We do work from home during the day and can be reached if needed.
In the unlikely event of a power outage the main lights, bathroom & refrigerator will run on our natural gas powered generator.
